Kirkland Lake Fire Services (KLFS) is comprised of 13 full-time staff (including 1 Fire Chief, 4 Platoon Chiefs, and 8 Firefighters) and approximately 20 volunteer (paid-on-call) firefighters. Operating out of a single fire station located at 8 O’Meara Boulevard, KLFS boasts a fleet of two pumper trucks, one 95’ tower truck, one light-duty rescue truck, one utility truck, one Chief’s truck, and one rehabilitation trailer. KLFS is responsible for emergencies within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Kirkland Lake, including Swastika, Goodfish Lake, and Nettie Lake, and assists neighbouring communities with fire and motor vehicle emergencies established under mutual aid agreements.
KLFS provides 24-hour emergency response to fires (including structure, vehicle, and wildland), hazardous material incidents, motor vehicle collisions, and other rescue incidents. KLFS also responds to medical emergencies under the Tiered Response Agreement held with the District of Temiskaming Social Services Administration Board.
KLFS delivers a wide range of non-emergency programs and services to the community, including but not limited to fire origin and cause investigation, public fire safety education, fire prevention, Ontario Fire Code inspections and enforcement, and various calls for service.
