Off-Road Vehicles on Town of Kirkland Lake Streets

There is a new by-law for regulating what type of off-road vehicles are permitted on Town streets. Now in addition to all-terrain vehicles, there can be multi-purpose off-highway utility vehicles and recreational off-highway vehicles. Full definition of these vehicles can be found in Ontario Regulation 316/03. Here is a quick visual to help guide what is permitted and what is not:

These are Permitted

Allowed Off-Road Vehicles

These are NOT

Off-Road Vehicles Not Allowed

It is also important to note that the new by-law has changed the language for use of portions of Government Road. Off-road vehicles are no longer permitted on any part of Government Road as this was not supported by the MTO. Users may cross over Government Road but may not drive along it.

The updated by-law can be found here, and further information can be obtained by contacting the Clerk at 705-567-9361 ext 238. Drive safe!
