The Town of Kirkland Lake maintains approximately 126 lane kilometres of roads, storm sewers, sidewalks and 2 bridges.


Summer Road Maintenance

Summer road maintenance commences when weather permits. The road maintenance programs are as per the following:

  • Asphalt patching
  • Sidewalk and street sweeping
  • Line painting
  • Dust Control
  • Storm sewer maintenance
  • Road and sidewalk repairs

Plowing/Winter Road Conditions

During the winter season, Public Works staff monitor weather conditions by conducting road patrols and observing local forecasts to strategically dispatch crews to clear snow and uphold the standard of safety. Residents must be aware of relevant by-laws when plowing/shoveling their driveways, particularly BY-LAW NO. 08-089 and the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 199, c. H.8, s. 181, stating it is illegal to deposit snow on ANY roadway as it poses a hazard for drivers/pedestrians.


Winter Parking Restrictions

In accordance with BY-LAW NO. 15-017; No person shall park a vehicle between the hours of 2400 hours (12:00 a.m.) midnight to 0730 hours (7:30 a.m.) during the period from November 1 to April 15 inclusive upon any highway or boulevard under the jurisdiction of the Town of Kirkland Lake.
