The Civic Awards Program recognizes individuals and organizations whose contributions help shape a strong, vibrant, and engaged community in Kirkland Lake.
Through formal recognition, the Town celebrates leadership, volunteerism, innovation, and acts of service that reflect Kirkland Lake’s “Good as Gold” spirit.
Eligibility
To be eligible:
- Nominees must have made a meaningful contribution to the Kirkland Lake community
- Contributions must be voluntary or beyond regular employment duties
- Groups/organizations must primarily serve Kirkland Lake residents Self-nominations are not permitted
- Town employees and elected officials are not eligible for actions within their role
- Previous recipients may be re-nominated after 3 years

- Adolescent Rising Star Award (Under 18)
- Achievement in STEAM
- Volunteer & Community Service Award
- Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Award (Mayor’s Award)
Nomination Process
Nominations open April 1 – April 30 (annually)
Submission must include:
- Selected category
- Nominee & nominator contact information
- Selected category
- Detailed description of contributions (impact, duration)
- Supporting Documentation
Submission Process
Submit nominations by:
- Completing the nomination form online
- Or completing the nomination form and dropping it off in person at Town Hall, 3 Kirkland St E, Kirkland Lake, Ontario.
Selection Process
- Reviewed by an Awards Selection Panel
- Evaluated on:
- Impact
- Duration of service
- Recommendations go to Council for approval
- Recipients notified by May 30
Recognition
- Honoured at a Special Council Meeting (June)
- Receive a certificate signed by the Mayor
- Featured on Town website, social media, and local media
