Effective immediately, the Town of Kirkland Lake will no longer provide garbage collection services on Mondays, with one important exception: residents and commercial properties located in Swastika and Chaput Hughes will continue to receive Monday collection as usual.
This change is part of a strategic effort to optimize waste collection routes through the downtown core of Kirkland Lake, improving overall efficiency and service delivery. By adjusting the schedule, the Town aims to improve cleanliness of the downtown core, streamline operations, and better align with the capabilities of our new waste collection contractor.
New Collection Schedule for Kirkland Lake Residents and Commercial Businesses:
- If you previously received garbage collection on Monday, your new collection day is now Thursday.
- This change applies to all residential and commercial addresses within the downtown core of Kirkland Lake, excluding Swastika and Chaput Hughes as it was determined that the existing routes serving Swastika and Chaput Hughes are already functioning efficiently and do not require modification. These areas are geographically distinct and are serviced by a separate route that remains unaffected by the downtown optimization efforts.
Please refer to our updated maps and collection routes to confirm your new pickup day.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we transition to our new waste collection contractor. Thank you for helping us keep Kirkland Lake clean and efficient.
