Every municipal Council in Ontario must have a Procedure By-Law governing the way that Council and its board and committee meetings are run.
The by-law includes rules on how meetings are called, their time, date & location, the conduct of members, and the order of business.
The by-law also guides public participation with Council, and the way the municipality communicates about meetings.
Council is updating its current Procedure By-Law to ensure it best supports good governance, and aligns with provincial legislation.
Council is requesting feedback on public participation in meetings and the decision-making process.
